Brazil to be paired with Italy in Confederations Cup

Brazil will face Italy in the group stages of next year’s Confederations Cup, FIFA has confirmed.

FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke confirmed that as Italy are representing Europe as runners up of Euro 2012, they cannot be in the same group as neighbours Spain.

Therefore Uruguay, representing South America as Copa America champions, will be in with Spain, whilst Tahiti, Mexico, Japan and an African nation will all discover who they are paired with on Saturday.
