Cameroon suspended from international football

Cameroon’s national team has been indefinitely suspended from international football by FIFA.

The decision came moments after Cameroon went top of their World Cup qualifying group because Togo had fielded an ineligible player against them in a qualifier to forfeit three points.

FIFA confirmed that the suspension was because of government interference, saying: “The FIFA statutes oblige member associations to manage their affairs independently and with no influence from third parties.”
