Crook resigns under del Piero pressure

Ian Crook has resigned as manager of FC Sydney, citing the increased pressures since signing Alessandro del Piero for his departure.

The former Norwich midfielder said he was not the right man to take the team forward.

“It builds up. All this (media) has become a bit of a burden,” he told reporters on Sunday.

“With Alessandro coming, the whole thing has become a bit bigger.

“It’s become a bit of a weight on my shoulders, to be honest with you, and I haven’t handled it that well.”
