Ferguson says this could be “big year”

Alex Ferguson believes this could be a “big year” for Manchester United, indicating for the first time that he is thinking of emulating the 1999 team which won the treble.

United have been spectacularly good so far this season, and are in a good position to challenge to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League once again.

“The players sense it could be a big year for them. But at this club, in this situation, anything can happen on the run-in. Players can all of a sudden find themselves playing in a final or an important league game because that is the kind of squad I have.”
