Former Rangers striker to join Greenock Morton

Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo is believed to be close to agreeing a deal to join Greenock Morton.

The 34-year-old had a trial at Kilmarnock earlier this season, but did not get a contract offer from the club.

The Spaniard had also been hoping to make a return to Rangers.

Novo earlier this week told the Scotsman: “I always thought I would come back to Rangers and lots of things came out in the papers that (Ally) McCoist wanted to speak with me but it has never happened.

“You have to take that as obviously they don’t want you, so that’s football.

“You don’t always get what you want and you just need to walk away and work hard.”
