Re: Premier League picks and previews 2010-11
Premier League 14, 15 and 16 August - Saturday - Tottenham - Manchester City White Hart Lane Kick-off: 13:45 Last season: Tottenham 3-0 Manchester City, Manchester City 0-1 Tottenham. City have struggled a lot in their recent frendlies. They have a lot of new players and I believe it will take some time for them to settle. I believe this could be tight. Less than 2.5 goals. Aston Villa - West Ham Villa Park Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: West Ham 2-1 Aston Villa, Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham. The hosts are currently without a boss following Martin O'Neills resignation. I believe Villa could struggle in this one and expect a tight game between these two. Less than 2.5 goals. Blackburn - Everton Ewood Park Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: Everton 3-0 Blackburn, Blackburn 2-3 Everton. There were plenty of goals between these two last season and I believe in many in this one as well. More than 2.5 goals. Bolton - Fulham Reebok Stadium Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: Fulham 1-1 Bolton, Bolton 0-0 Fulham. Both meetings between these two last season ended in draws and I believe this one could be close as well. Fulham boss Mark Hughes' first game in charge. Draw. Sunderland - Birmingham Stadium of Light Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: Birmingham 2-1 Sunderland, Sunderland 3-1 Birmingham. Birmingham had an impressive start to last season and managed a good finish. Sunderland have a decent team and I believe they have a good chance of winning this one. Sunderland to win. Wigan - Blackpool The DW Stadium Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: Not played. I believe Blackpool will struggle in the Premier League. Wigan have a decent team. The Blackpool boss has woved to attack this season and I believe this one will be entertaining. More than 2.5 goals. Wolves - Stoke Molineux Stadium Kick-off: 16:00 Last season: Stoke 2-2 Wolves, Wolves 0-0 Stoke. Stoke have already signed players such as Kenwyne Jones this summer and I believe they have a good chance of getting something from this away game. Stoke to win. Chelsea - West Brom Stamford Bridge Kick-off: 18:30 Last season: Not played. Chelsea did not impress me in the Community Shield against Manchester United. But it will be key in their battle to retain the title to win home games such as this one. Chelsea to win. - Sunday - Liverpool - Arsenal Anfield Road Kick-off: 17:00 Last season: Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal, Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool. What a first game of the season for both of these teams. I expect it to be close in Roy Hodgson's first Premier League game in charge of Liverpool. More than 2.5 goals. - Monday - Manchester United - Newcastle Old Trafford Kick-off: 21:00 Last season: Not played. United are famous for their slow starts to the season, but with in-form players such as Javier Hernandez I believe they will be able to win this one. Manchester United to win.

Everton managed a 3-1 win here last season, but I believe United want revenge for this defeat that could be part of the reason why they did not win the title.
