"The chairman has told me that if Conor goes, we will need to replace him. We're working on that in case it happens.

"Hopefully the chairman allows me to strengthen other areas as well.

"We haven't discussed that yet but the chairman has always said if there are players out there who will make us better and are within our budget, then we should make a move."

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies:
"Our record away from home's very good. It will be severely tested against a good Kilmarnock side without these players.

"I said weeks ago when the team was settled and doing well, there would come a time when we'd need the squad.

"It's all right saying on paper we've got a good squad, this is a chance for them to come in and prove that they can carry on from where they boys who are missing have left off.

"We have a wee struggle defensively," Smith said. "We have doubts over Steven Whittaker and Sasa Papac for tomorrow's game and Madjid Bougherra is suspended.

"Steven could not put his boot on this morning without a lot of discomfort and Sasa Papac has a groin injury. It's not a bad one but obviously we have to show a bit of care to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

"We also have Steven Naismith doubtful.

"So we are a little bit short, especially defensively if the two boys are out.

"Andy Webster is available and Richard Foster is there and we have Lee McCulloch who can move to the back, so we have managed to cover it, but it leaves us short defensively."

Inverness manager Terry Butcher:
"We always look forward to going to Ibrox.

"It's the third time we'll have played Rangers this year and we've had two good draws and two good performances.

"There's an extra spring in the lads' step and we've got a good record against them recently.
