he should do his knees a favour and retire or he'll be crippled permanently.
no need to be stubborn in my opinion. Smart players like dean richards and dean ashton retired so they can prevent themselves from being a total handicap. He should do the same.

no one has told him he should retire
he can still play i think
if not in BPl then atleast in the BPL for handicaps tongue
