Fulham defender Riise set to join Werder Bremen

Fulham left-back John Arne Riise is closing in on a move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

The Norwegian defender is in talks over a free transfer to the German side.

Riise told Nettavisen: “Yes, it looks like I will be leaving Fulham this summer.

“We have a deal with Fulham that will allow me to leave the club on a free transfer.”

Werder Bremen tried to sign the Norwegian defender while he was still at Roma in 2009.

Riise has made 73 appearances for Fulham under Martin Jol, but could still be set to leave Craven Cottage this summer.
