Garcia laments “accident”

Rudi Garcia lamented Lille’s shock 3-1 home defeat by Belarussian outfit BATE Borisov last night.

Lille got off to the worst possible start in a Champions League group including last season’s runners up Bayern Munich and Valencia.

“We’re going to have to succeed where people expect us to fail as we travel to Valencia then play Bayern Munich,” said Garcia.

“I hope this match was just an accident and we cannot afford to fall into the trap of thinking everything’s catastrophic. We had chances for 3-2 and we needed to score the second goal to stand a chance of not losing the game.”
