Japan to complain to FIFA over defeat

Japan will complain to FIFA after they missed the chance to become the first qualifier for next year’s World Cup following a 2-1 defeat in Jordan.

Japan were angered that their players were dazzled with lasers during the match. Midfielder Yasuhito Endo complained afterwards that he had been dazzled by lasers prior to missing a crucial penalty.

“It wasn’t just the penalty, there were other times in the game, too, but it (the laser beam) didn’t really affect me,” the midfielder said.

“I was focused and tried to place the ball where I wanted to put it, but the goalkeeper read it.”
