Man Utd star out until Christmas

Manchester United have confirmed that Michael Carrick will be out of action for four to six weeks with an Achilles injury.

Carrick has been struggling with a niggling problem for some time, but cam through 90 minutes in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Carrick said: “I have been carrying the injury for a few weeks now. I was a bit patched up to play today.

“I got through it but it doesn’t look too good.”

The 32-year-old playmaker has been a key player for United in recent years and has appeared in 15 of their last 18 matches so far this season.
