Martino left Newell’s Old Boys for the Catalans, selected by the Camp Nou giants seemingly on the back of his football philosophy.
“I did not know much about Martino,” he told journalists. “But he has a 15-year coaching career, most of the time spent with the Paraguay national team – and he achieved good results there.
“I am not the one to value Martino. Players are just employees of the club – we must do what is best for this team.
“I have never worked with him, so I do not know what to expect, but from what I’ve seen he has changed the way Newell’s play.”
