The agent of the 22-year-old, Jean Pierre Bernes, said: “I know that in the recent past there has been some contact between Roma and Toulouse about Mathieu.
“A few days ago I spoke to the player for quite a length of time over a move to Roma and he’s very enthusiastic about it.
“Also, at Roma he’d find Mexes and Faty, so adjusting to Italy will be a lot easier.
“If the two clubs can find an agreement, there won’t be a problem.”
