Mexico to bid for 2026 World Cup

Mexico are to bid to host the 2026 World Cup, a football official there has said.

Mexico has hosted the World Cup twice previously, and if successful they would be the first country to hold it three times.

“Mexico was a great host in ’70 and ’86, so we are indeed going to fight (for the right), we want to have a World Cup (again), there will be a strong competition with the United States,” Mexican Football Federation president Justino Compean told reporters.
