Napoli win match fixing appeal

Napoli have won an appeal against a two point deduction handed to them because of one player’s attempt to fix a match.

Matteo Gianello spoke to Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava about trying to fix a game against Sampdoria, but both dismissed the idea out of hand.

However both were given six month bans and the club docked points for failing to report the incident. Cannavaro and Grava have both had their suspensions overturned.
