Real Madrid defender Salgado: We're better off without Ronaldo

Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado claims his side are better off without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid made a world-record £60million bid for the Manchester United winger in the summer, but failed with their attempts.

Salgado said: "It's great news for us that Ronaldo has no interest in coming here.

"It means the end of all the speculation which has been a big distraction for us and prevented the club going out and signing other players who would have strengthened the squad in all positions, not just one."
