Nelson keen to extend Aberdeen deal

Aberdeen goalkeeper Stuart Nelson has admitted he is keen to extend his stay at the Scottish Premier League side.

Nelson has also backed under-fire boss Mark McGhee to deliver success.

Nelson said: "My contract is up at the end of the season and it's all about Aberdeen right now.

"Come the end of the season, we will sit down and see what the situation is.

"I want to be here next season. This is a massive club and it was a dream come true to get the shirt for the first time at Falkirk.

"I aim to build on that and be part of the plans when the good times return - as they will.

"Jamie knows I am right behind him and that I want to play in the first team. I won't let up until I get that opportunity again and when it comes, I'll take it.

"Getting that start shows I have been doing enough for the gaffer to put me in. If he didn't think anything of me, he wouldn't have played me.

"I'm heading in the right direction but these things don't happen overnight. You have to wait for the opportunity."
