Man Utd chief looking forward to Bayern Munich clash

Manchester United chief executive David Gill is looking forward to the clash with Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The two teams faced each other in the Champions League final that United won in 1999.

"It's very exciting to face Bayern Munich again," Gill said.

"We have good memories of the heroic final against Bayern in the late '90s.

"Were we afraid of Barcelona? No - all the teams remaining in the competition have great players, including Bayern."

"But we're confident. Wayne Rooney is one of the best around at the moment and it's great to see him enjoying his football," he added.

"It's nice to have Owen Hargreaves nearing fitness again and we're hopeful that he'll get first-team action again this term."
