Gago sustained a knee ligament damage in training while away on international duty with Argentina.

A statement from Real Madrid read: "A clinical exploration and a magnetic resonance done at Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital have confirmed Fernando Gago suffers from a Grade II sprain on the ligament of his left knee.

"The player will miss approximately four weeks."
