Chelsea plan move for Spurs playmaker

Chelsea are keen on signing Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, according to the player's close pal Zdravko Mamic.

The Dinamo Zagreb vice-president claims Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti have told him that Modric is at the top of his shopping list.

Mamic told The Sun: "I was with Ancelotti for lunch. I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric.

"Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric's agent - I am just his friend - but I am very proud.

"I don't want to say anything more because I don't want to upset my friends at Tottenham."

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to allow Ancelotti to go on a spending spree next summer.
