Sunderland could make new bid for Bolton skipper

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed they could make a new and improved bid for Bolton striker Kevin Davies.

Bolton have already rejected an bid from Sunderland for the veteran striker.

"We have made an offer to Bolton for him, and that has been rejected at the moment," said O'Neill. "We will see where we stand later on today.

"We would have to organise something with Bolton first of all and at the moment, we seem to be apart in those aspects.

"But perhaps later on today, I might have a better idea."
