The former Manchester United star has failed to make the expected impact at Inter Milan since joining the club from Atletico Madrid last summer.

The 33-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Brazilian side Internacional in recent weeks.

"We are close to reaching an agreement for the termination of his contract," Branca told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We will see what happens in the next days."
