Van Persie has been strongly linked with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United after he stated that he would not be signing a new contract with the Gunners.

Podolski told ESPN: "All I can say is Van Persie had an amazing record last season and hopefully there is a way he can stay with Arsenal.

"It would be great to play with him, but obviously this is not in my control."
