Cleverley made his long-awaited debut for England in the Three Lions' 2-1 win over Italy.

"It was a proud moment for me, a big occasion in any footballer's life," said Cleverley.

"I managed to get on the ball and hopefully impressed the manager."

"We know Tom is a great player," noted Hodgson.

"He has been playing well for Team GB and it was great for him to make his England debut."
