The Russian side added the Witsel to the signing of Hulk on an extraordinary day in the transfer market.

Zenit reportedly met the €40million release clause in Witsel's contract with Portuguese side Benfica.

The Russian transfer window remains open until later in September.

Witsel has previously been strongly linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.
