Vilanova absence won't affect Barcelona play

Tito Vilanova's absence as Barcelona coach as he recovers from cancer will not affect the club's results, believes former coach Johan Cruyff.

Cruyff himself was coach of Barcelona when he had to undergo heart surgery 20 years ago.

“The news was a surprise. My first thoughts go to his wife and children. Those are the ones who suffer the most. You have to be with the family,” said Cruyff.

“Of course Tito will return. I always believe so. I think so because when you are sick you have to be positive.

“I do not think his absence will affect the team, they know what to do. There’s a game ahead and then time to relax. They are people with experience and that is increased now that they have to take command.”
