Messi not focused on personal glory

Leo Messi has insisted that he has not thought much about his remarkable achievements in 2012.

Messi broke the record for goals scored in a calendar year by netting 91 in all competitions for club and country.

“How have I grown? Honestly? I have not evaluated it, I do not know, I always hope to improve on everything. And that also includes my career, of course,” Messi told Argentine publication Ole.

“I try not to think about my personal growth in sport. But obviously I am changing my mind as I get older, but I have not stopped to evaluate how things have changed in my game.

“At least, not yet. My highlight for 2012? [My son] Thiago arrived with a lot of hope and joy for all of us. He was the greatest thing that happened to me.”
