Martinez weighs in on Casillas debate
Ruben Martinez, the Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper, believes too much attention is being paid to the furore over Iker Casillas being dropped by Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.
The decision to give Antonio Adan the starting jersey in the last two league games has been highly controversial.
“It’s a little weird, but I read the other day that 36 goalkeepers have so far played in the League this season,” said Martinez.
“If Casillas is dropped, who is considered one of the best in the world, it creates a stir, but here we have changed the goalie and nothing happened, nor has it at many other teams.
“If Mourinho decides to pick Adan then he has his reasons and Casillas will have to respect that and bide his time. It is a regular thing for all teams and we should not give too much attention to it.”
