Blatter stands by ban of Barca players

Sepp Blatter says FIFA will not back down from a ban handed out to a host of youngsters at Barcelona.

Koreans Paik Seung-Ho, Lee Seung Woo and Jang Gyeolhee, Theo Chendri from France, Nigerian-Dutchman Bobby Adekanye and Cameroonian Patric Sousia were all banned as FIFA ruled Barcelona had broken the rules regarding signing youngsters from overseas.

“The Barca case will be studied,” Blatter told AS. “But the rules for signing minors are very clear.

“The popularity of football brings some dangers. The financial success of our sport makes it, unfortunately, of interest to international mafias.”
