An honour to play with Pirlo - Poli

Andrea Poli has spoken of his pleasure at being given the chance to play with Andrea Pirlo against San Marino last night.

Poli made his Italy debut and scored in a 4-0 win for the team who finished runners up at the European Championships last year. That improves his chances of being picked for this summer's Confederations Cup.

“The Coach will make his decisions. I am happy with the goal, above all as it arrived on an important night for me and my teammates, as we wanted to do well,” he told Rai Sport.

“On paper this game was easy, but these things must never be under-estimated and we did well to maintain concentration.

“You can’t get better than to play alongside these champions and Pirlo is my idol. It was an honour to play with him.”
