Newcastle target could sign new Lyon deal
Bafetimbi Gomis has refused to rule out signing a contract extension at French side Lyon.
Gomis' current contract with Lyon is set to expire at the end of the current season.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.
He told a press conference: "Prolonging my stay? It is not an issue at the moment. I am happy at Lyon but I don't know what will happen in the future.
"I didn't expect to be experiencing this good period, but I also didn't expect to be banned.
"Everything can change quickly in football. I won't close the door on Lyon, but I won't forget what happened."
But Gomis' agent Francesco Di Frisco has suggested that his client is close to leaving Lyon, with TMW quoting him as saying: "He's close to joining the Premier League. We are in talks with several clubs."
