Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton has been told to sell his star players in January.

Pompey have an unpaid Ł1.6million tax bill and have been issued with a winding-up petition.

Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou said: "The club ran out of cash at the end of December.

"Time is against us."
