Manchester United could fetch a massive $1billion if they decide to sell the name to its stadium to a sponsor.

United have in the past insisted that they have no plans to sell out his heritage.

But the sale of the advertising rights to Old Trafford would boost the club's profits.

Forbes reports that United would earn at least $50million a year, if they had agreed to sell their naming rights on a 20 year deal.

United signed a record seven-year $559million shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet last month.

Premier League rivals Manchester City sold their stadium naming rights to Etihad Airways in 2011 for Ł400million over 10 years.
