Zenit sign former Man Utd target in €40m deal

Zenit St Petersburg have confirmed the signing of Belgium international Axel Witsel from Benfica.

The Russian side added the Witsel to the signing of Hulk on an extraordinary day in the transfer market.

Zenit reportedly met the €40million release clause in Witsel's contract with Portuguese side Benfica.

The Russian transfer window remains open until later in September.

Witsel has previously been strongly linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.
