Alessandro del Piero has told fans of his new club Sydney that he is in Australia to "win."

Del Piero joins from Juventus, where he enjoyed a startling career, but has no intention of losing his competitive spirit.

"I am here not for the end of my career but for the start of my new career," he told reporters.

"I want to win some (titles). I play to win."
