Messi and Ronaldo head Ballon D'Or nominees

Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the favourites for this year's Ballon D'Or after the shortlist was revealed.

Radamel Falcao, Andrea Pirlo, Neymar, Xavi and Andres Iniesta are the other leading names nominated.

The winner will be announced in January in Switzerland after the 23 strong list is reduced to three.
