Ronaldo was struck by David Navarro's elbow, giving him a gash which manager Jose Mourinho said affected his vision.

He came back on the field to score the opening goal but was substituted at half time.

"It was impossible for him to play on so when we get back to Madrid he'll go to hospital to have the necessary checks," Mourinho said.
