Ranieri: We should have scored in London

The first leg ended in a 1-0 win to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while the second leg in Turin ended in a 2-2 draw.

“I think not scoring at Stamford Bridge made a big difference,” he told Sky Italia.

“A draw has been like a cold shower for us. But this is football.

“We started positively. My guys did everything they could. We were on top in the game even when we went down to 10 men (following Giorgio Chiellini’s dismissal). We can’t ask for any more from this side.

“We are really sorry to exit the Champions League, we knew we had to face a big side like Chelsea. It’s a pity, but we will try again next season.

“I have nothing to say to my strikers, they did the best they could. We were facing Chelsea who lost the final last season at penalties.

“The only regret, I repeat, is not to have scored in London.”
