St Etienne into Coupe de la Ligue final

St Etienne reached the final of the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday night after overcoming Lille.

Having already beaten Paris St Germain on penalties earlier in the competition, Les Verts beat Lille on spot kicks too to qualify for their first cup final since 1982.

“We’ve been waiting for it for a long time,” captain Loic Perrin told French channel France 3.

“We could have won this thriller before but it’s a very happy end. It’s wonderful. Now, we have to lift the trophy.”
