Tabarez optimistic Uruguay will recover

Oscar Washington Tabarez believes his Uruguay team will improve in their next World Cup qualifiers.

Uruguay have endured a poor summer, with the Copa America champions losing in the group stage of the Olympics and being beaten 4-0 by Colombia last week in a crucial qualifier.

They drew 1-1 with Ecuador on Tuesday night as Uruguay look to get back on track.

“We’re going through a lean spell and we’ll see how we overcome it in a month’s time. This is a long haul. There are teams who were far behind and have recovered in the last two fixtures. I think we can also do that in the coming matches.”
