Title race not over – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho refused to concede defeat in the title race despite Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Real Betis last night.

Madrid are now eight points adrift of Barcelona having played a game more, and dropped points are rare in Spain, with the Catalans having lost just two all season so far.

“[The league] is still open”, said the Portuguese. “Last season we had a ten point lead over Barca and this advantage was cut. We should not be too pessimistic or too optimistic. But what is clear is that [retaining the title] is difficult.”
