West Ham striker to miss England game

West Ham striker Andy Carroll will miss England’s World Cup qualifying matches against Moldova and Ukraine.

Carroll has been forced to withdraw from the England squad due to a hamstring injury sustained against Fulham on Saturday.

“After picking up an injury in the match against Fulham, Carroll will not be part of the squad for England’s opening FIFA World Cup qualifying matches next week,” said a statement on the FA’s official website.

“Any decision on whether to call additional players into the squad will not be made until after the three fixtures on Sunday have been completed.”
