It’s feared the injury could sideline Doyle, who has scored 8 goals for 18th placed Wolves this season, for up to 2 months.
Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni said:
“It’s his medial knee ligament. I think he may be out for one or two months, so it’s a very serious injury. I hope by May or June he can come back and we can have him for the match in Macedonia,”
The injury is a big setback for relegation battling Wolves, who face the likelihood their record signing and league top scorer could miss the rest of the campaign.
