Sir Alex Ferguson has been particularly vociferous in his criticism of referees, questioning the integrity of referee Martin Atkinson and facing a five match touchline ban as a result.
But Ferguson is unrepentent, and that has prompted Richard Scudamore of the Premier League to say clubs will look to increase their respect for referees next season.
“We had a meeting today and the clubs unanimously backed the idea that at the start of next season we want to raise the bar, we want to improve behaviour.”
