The 28-year-old’s contract with Heracles expires this summer and can join Sparta for free.
“I’ve an expiring contract, but Heracles haven’t offered me a new deal yet. I think that’s kind of strange. I’ve scored six goals this campaign and set up several others, so I’m one of the more important players,” said Van den Bergh to AD.
“I’d be delighted to return to Sparta. I know that the fans were upset when I over-celebrated scoring a goal against them, but I’m pretty sure that they didn’t forget my good years at the club. Sparta are a good team. However, I haven’t heard anything from them yet.”
