The Mirror says Ferguson has spoken to Sidwell and offered him contract for next season.
Chelsea boss Mourinho offered the 24-year-old a 50,000-a-week deal, two weeks ago.
Sidwell is a free agent this summer and is wanted by several Premiership sides.
