It was confirmed today that the Scotland midfielder has damaged ankle ligaments.
Fletcher sustained the injury during the FA Cup win at Reading.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: “He had lots of swelling. We had to wait before we could do a scan.”
He added: “Unfortunately, the news was not good, which is a bad blow for the lad.”
