Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino has revealed he was close to joining Catania in 2007.
Sorrentino was linked with a move to Catania, while playing for AEK Athens, but instead he ended up on loan at Spanish side Recreativo Huelva.
“I was very close to joining Catania when I was in Greece in 2007,” Sorrentino told ItaSportPress.it. “The club contacted me, but then I ended up in Spain, reaching an accord with them.
“I have always said that I would be happy to wear the Rossazzurri guernsey, that was on the shoulders of my father.
“It would be a dream that I can realise on the future because we can then make a comparison between father and son, as to whom was better.”
