Makita has spent the last two years with the Pirates, but his contract expired at the end of June.
“Even though I didn’t make the impact I had intended during my two season stay with Orlando Pirates, I felt at home and enjoyed every moment at the club,” he told Pirates’ website.
“This is a very emotional moment in my life, frankly, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I have no other option but to leave due to my family situation back home.
“As much as I wanted to improve from where I finished off last season, I have serious family problems that need my attention. It’s a very sad moment but hey life has to go on,” he said.
